* The character talking to Bessie in this strip is Sam and Simon's dad. He and his wife also appear briefly in this strip, as well as quite a few early Ol and Sal cartoons (pre-2007) which don't feature on this site. He's an interesting looking chap with his giant specs, but unfortunately this is his last appearance in the strip to date.
